International Herald Tribune: New study shows US lawmakers have as much as $196 million invested in defense companies
Members of the U.S.Congress have as much as $196 million...collectively invested in companies doing business with the Defense Department, earning millions since the start of the Iraq war...Its called war profiteering. We want the Iraq war/occupation/surge to come to an end, but its good business, and it yields great profits.
...Several members who earned the most from defense contractors have plum committee or leadership assignments, including Democratic Sen. John Kerry, independent Sen. Joseph Lieberman and House Republican Whip Roy Blunt.
A review of the names let's you know that this is a bipartisan problem, and it may also reveal why the catastrophe continues...
Spokesman David Wade said Kerry, who staunchly opposes the war in Iraq, is one of many beneficiaries of family trusts which he doesn't control. Wade also noted that Kerry does not sit on the Appropriations Committee, which has direct control of the defense budget. And here lies another aspect of the problem, we are all so invested in the military industrial complex that removing our finances from it is like removing shards of glass from a huge mound of rice.

Its all intimately linked, the economy, war, politicians, corporations. What the neo-cons did is run with it as the foreign policy objective. Use wars to destroy an economy and replace it with the military industrial complex, all the while calling it democracy and liberation.
The jokes on us isn't it? Orwell was right once the language is debased anything is possible. Slavery becomes Freedom etc. Were at a terrible dangerous crossroads.
Yes, Orwell was onto it. This is at the bottom of the MSM complete capitulation during the run up and several years of shock and awe.
As you know the same corporations that make the weapons and benefit from war, own the MSM.
If you write about this and simply lay out the connected dots, you are a traitor. What do you do with that.
