Olympic Pressure

In a welcome change of course, China is now agreeing to meet with an envoy of the Dalia Lama. 50 plus years of extreme dismantling of Tibet and the Tibetan culture didn't cause this change. It was the pressure from the world over the Chinese Olympics as they related to the human rights protests in Tibet timed to coincide with the event.

For the Chinese, its about the money, prestige, and attempting to present a good image to the world.

China's government agreed Friday to a meeting with an envoy of exiled Tibetan leader the Dalai Lama, a step that follows weeks of calls from world leaders for dialogue in the wake of anti-government protests in Tibet.
