The U.S. economy has weakened further since early March due to softer consumer spending, the Federal Reserve said Wednesday in a periodic business sentiment survey.This is a curious way of stating the problem.
The economy weakened because people didn't spend their money? Sorry, people had less money to spend and if they had any money they were going to hold onto it out of fear.
This is called basic governmental obfuscation or it could also be called - passing the buck.
