The House voted Wednesday to block the Bush administration from cutting federal spending on Medicaid health care for the poor by $13 billion over the next five years.Bush is of course self and party mandated to kill all entitlements, social spending. Its called draining the beast.
Two-thirds of House Republicans joined every voting Democrat in the 349-to-62 vote to impose a one-year moratorium, through next March, on seven rules changes that the administration said were needed to curb waste and abuse in Medicaid...
Some sobering news: Number of Uninsured Hits New High, Census Shows
47 million Americans had no health insurance in 2006, an increase of more than 2 million from the previous year.
So what's happening is that health insurance is becoming more expensive, less affordable. Employers are dropping coverage. And as a consequence, what we see out the other end is 2.2 million more Americans uninsured in the most recent year, a total of almost 9 million more Americans now uninsured since 2000.
