Baloney

George Bush is big in Albania and Croatia.

He's back for a farewell tour.

Albania which represented something like .001% of the coalition of the willing in Iraq, also did Bush the favor of accepting a few Uighurs who were rounded up in Pakistan and sent off to rot in Gitmo.

The Uighurs were of course innocent. Uighurs are from the Uighur province of China, they are predominantly Muslim and also seek independence, so China views them as terrorists. Might I also mention that one of the many adverse affects of Bush's war on terrorism is that it now allows a country like China to call the Uighurs and the Tibetans, terrorists. Bush in his compassionate way, could not send them back to China after illegally abducting them from Pakistan. In China they would have been summarily tortured or executed, unlike Gitmo were they may have only been tortured.

Here Bush is welcoming Croatia into the league of nations AKA NATO. He envisions NATO sending troops into the Middle East and probably North Korea, to extend the neo-conservative dream wars, full all out wars throughout the Middle East, North Korea, and eventually China.

NYT: Bush Champions Expansive Mission for NATO
Addressing new NATO allies in a medieval town square here, President Bush on Saturday championed the alliance’s expansion across all of Europe and compared the liberation of Eastern European nations from communism to the American-led wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

At the NATO summit in Bucharest, Romania, he called the war on Islamic extremism — the central focus of his administration since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 — “the top priority of this alliance,” a view that is not universal among some European allies.
Bush is back to doing what he does best. Sending out a wide swath of ill conceived and happily wrapped neo-con ideology, a virtual panoply of deception. Here it is cloaked in the wrapping of liberation and freedom. Two things which George Bush has about as much interest in as any policy non-making that he has ever not done.

Recall that endless war will get any neo-con frothing. Endless war produces endless spending for the military industrial complex, something which most neo-cons are heavily invested in. Also recall that a highly militarized country has no need for dissent and calls for spending on human services and the environment. Consequently the removal of liberty and freedom is ultimately at the heart of Mr. Bush.

After 7 years of this majestic harsh pro-imperialistic and anti-democratic rhetoric, why would we expect anything less.

He's sold on the neo-cons. That was the platform he brought to his presidency. He didn't want to follow his dad's version of republicanism because he is always competing with dad. So he found a beefier more amped up version of conservatism with the neo-cons. Also Bush isn't really much of a policy maker, its not something he even cares about. All he wanted was to win the presidency. He created a win at all costs team to take the presidency and leave no one else standing. Once he got all his ducks lined up with the neo-cons and his winning team, he ran with it, and he still runs with it. Because he is also something of an authoritarian know it all, he believes that he is absolutely correct and endowed by god. He's following god's will.

Ultimately Bush leaves the legacy as being the most seriously flawed of all presidents. He lacks the self reflective intelligence to carefully question any and all aspects of the political arena and he is completely lacking in possessing a basic curiosity which is an absolutely fundamental quality of a decent leader. The man is in so far over his head, its poignant and ultimately tragic for all of us including his 28% cheering section. Simply on the basis of being an extremely well connected person from one of the USA's most powerful families gets him into the presidency. So much for hard work, good intentions, and determination, the man throws all of that out the window every instant of his life.
