Reading through John Pilger's conversation with Aung San Suu Kyi you will find this quote:
"In Buddhism we are taught there are four basic ingredients for success. The first is the will to want it, then you must have the right kind of attitude, then perseverance, then wisdom . . ."
In this context she is talking about the potential for democracy in Burma, scene of violent protests, or rather a violent reaction to protests.
It is however a good model for success in general.
