I think Naomi is on to something. When u hire, elect, select whatever PREDATORS ( raptors, Tigers, etc.) and Scavengers ( Vultures, hyenas etc) to run your Gov't this is what happens. Andrew like all utopians continues to not see the dark side of the so called "free market" idealogy ( let the buyer beware). However, if u allow the foxes into the hen house by placing these types in charge of the regulatory agencies then why is anyone shocked? It's like the scene in Casablanca when the police chief Claude Reins closes Nick's when he says "Nick , I'm shocked to find gambling going on here." Cox, Paulson all of these vandals knew exactly what was going but they approved of it, all of it. So, now that it's gone a crapper they want to change the rules again to cover their buddies gambling debts. This is an inside job from day 1. Naomi is right these cynical bastards knew exactly what they wanted and were ready to ask for it FAST. The same thing happened with the so called Patriot Act. Did anyone think a 500 page document that basically voided large parts of the Bill of Rights just suddenly appeared after 9/11? No! The neo-cons had it all ready and written and just needed a 9/11 or Pearl harbor to foist it off on a frightened and cowed Congress and public. Naomi is right about how these thugs work. They're opportunists on a large scale and they are ideologues. Andrew is right ( far right) that they are not really conservatives in the traditional sense like he says he is. No, they're 21st century FASCISTS. The Fascists have had 60 yrs. to look at what they're leading figures in the 20th century Mussolini, Franco, Peron, and Hitler did wrong and they've learned. The left hasn't caught on till recently. As of today the Fascists are winning the new World War they have been fighting. Russia and China are arguably also now ruled by variants of this philosphy as well. China is Leninist and Russia is an authoritarian variety of Neo-fascism like various fascist regimes of the 50'-89's in So. and Central America. Pinochet's Chile is a good example only in Russia's case it's the KGB that rules now not the military. Anyway, the velvet glove is long been removed here. Now the check is coming due and we all know whose going to end up paying it.

Its my hope that our dialogue here somehow moves these very important ideas along. Hopefully somebody reads it or watches a clip and starts getting curious.

Naomi is a big deal, indeed. She puts it together. Prior to Naomi I used to read about what is called creative destruction. It seems similar to her shock doctrine, but I think her explanations cover more territory. Its updated.

One of the real beauties of the neo-conservatives and Bush neo-republicans what we call the neo-fascists, is the way they can disrupt the criticism with a well orchestrated media campaign. Its already out there that poor people are to blame for this most recent trillion dollar mess. It fits an archetype that is well established in American society. They were stupid to take on loans that they couldn't afford. What the hell is that? The banks are supposed to have criteria for giving out loans, if you don't reach the criteria, no $200,000 loan thank you.

One of the basic tenets of fascism is the link between government and corporations. Do we really have to look that far to see that our government is going to turn our mass wealth over to corporations. Are we voting on this? The essential tenet is as clear as a bell.

Yes, clear as a bell to US. Not to the hoi poli. They know this as well. They have control of a significant portion of the media now and unless that's ended they will continue to dish out their narrative. In the end it's all about $$ and power and these ruthless MF'ers are all over it and us. That they now want us all to cover their bad gambling debts though is over the line even for them. Your right though they already have the narrative deeply embedded in most people's heads that it's OUR fault. As Andrew said nobody forced any of these folks to take these loans. But, what he didn't say was the banks etc. basically handed this shit out like candy 6 yrs. ago. I remember getting assaulted daily with mail, ph. calls , visits from Realtors trying to loan me $$ lots of it. I wondered then WTF is going here? I didn't know nor did anyone else that the basic rules of the road had been radically altered. I knew this though it was all BS and I stayed away. Millions got sucked under and are now dealing with the repo man. They won't be bailed out as Sullivan is trying to say. No, they many of them are already under, it's all the people that profited off these people that are going to be bailed out and it's friggin wrong. They all deserve to LOSE. Sorry , even the one's that took the bait have to lose as well. What we had here was an example of caveat emptor being driven by the predators, that's what stinks here. That it was all a set up and a trap is without a doubt but it's too late to go back and try to prosecute the hundreds of thousands of dishonest sales people, lawyers, etc. We have to remember most if not all of these folks were just playing the game by the new rules or I should say lack of rules. What came out was unfortunately the worst side of human nature. So much for the so called free market.
