Second Comment Debate 1

There was one continuous quality to McCain's demeanor throughout the debate. He was condescending and irritable.

McCain sent out the message that he was angry to be there, he was angry to be debating a younger candidate, and he was down right angry at the candidate himself.

Now in my book, this is a bad reflection on McCain. There is nothing harmonizing about this type of anger based, war based attitude.

Its quite the opposite. Rather than debate the issue and present one's value or worth or wealth of knowledge, McCain expends energy simply trying to make the other side look bad.

The condescension does not help the country at this point in time.

As the debate proceeded, it became clearer to Obama that McCain was using this dismissive attitude. At that point, Obama returned in kind, and I believe that this was merited and sent McCain a very clear message.

I suspect that Obama will come out attacking even harder in the future because Obama cannot be denied his savy, sophistication, exceptional intelligence, and command of the issues.

I was worried about the debate because I know that Obama has a more facile ability with words than McCain. I feard that he could literally overwhelm McCain with that facility.

At this point, Obama will be more aggressive in shredding McCain's points. The cat is out of the bag.

You could tell at the end Obama understood that being civil with this asshole was going nowhere. Hopefully next time out he won't say he agrees with anything this dipshit has done or said. That was my one criticism of Obama he's too quick to applaud his opponents positionsn and agree with them. This is a partisan debate and a boxing match you don't give an inch. Mccain understood that and never once said anything respectful or nice to Obama back. Obama most be told NOT to try to be nice up there. We know he's self effacying and we know he's got style etc. but these debates are about standing up for what you believe in etc. mccain made it clear the only thing he believes in is himself and that he intends to stay the Reagan/BV$H course all the way to the bottom. ( were getting close )

Yes I agree. Obama is gracious. McCain was like piss eyed popeye.

McCain channels that old white guy pissy attitude thing, its a right wing mini-culture.

Obama did just fine. I bet he will take it to McCain just fine in the next debates. In truth I was worried that he would mop up McCain and therefor come across as too brazen or cold. I don't think Obama has that kind of harshness but he certainly has the superior skill of a good sword fighter with his words. I think he can slice and dice McCain just fine. The Iraq war didn't start in 2007 it started in 2003 caught McCain off guard. Obama needs more of that.

He missed a lot of opportunities IMHO to slam mcsame to the mat. I also think he was too worried about not being seen as tough enough to be Cmdr. in Chief and so he went on and on about Afghanistan and Pakistan the war of terror etc.
