More Silver Lining

There's always a silver lining.

Republicans are going to be experiencing a good deal of resentment accumulated over 8 years of horrendously bad policy from George W Bush.

That resentment translates into time to look for a new job other than the Senate or Congress.

This is good news.

The Republican Party is no longer the party of your dad. It is something far less. This has been an ongoing transformation.

We have the ultra right fundamentalist flat earthers like Palin, the titanic neocons like Cheney, and its still all orchestrated under the divisive shield of Rove. Sadly the middle ground, the moderate centrist Republicans like Hegel are faced with extinction. We all hope the Republicans can recapture their center.

Had McCain selected a moderate and capable Republican like Maine's Senator Olympia J. Snowe his candidacy would be far more viable.

Reuters: Republicans in Congress see election odds worsening
Republicans' hopes for only modest losses in November's congressional election appeared to be fading as fears of an economic collapse and panic on Wall Street fuel U.S. voters' wrath, political analysts and lawmakers said on Monday.

"Democrats have actually gained momentum because of the economic crisis in the past few weeks..."
And is it any wonder. Has McCain demonstrated a steady, realistic presidential grace while under fire, no. Obama has. We get the sense that McCain needs anger management and that Palin needs to go back to college, her depth of knowledge is frighteningly thin to non existent.

We also see Republican leadership like Paulson and Bush as ineffective. This is not good. At present the ship does not seem to have a rudder.
