Initial Comment Debate 1

Obama did just fine, his delivery needs some adjustment. Content gets an A+, form gets a B-.

McCain did just fine, he channeled Reagan better than we expected. Content gets a D, form gets an A-.

Now when we get down to partisan interests, Obama mops the floor with McCain. Obama sounds realistic on all the issues, McCain sounds stale.

Obama excelled on Iraq, the economy, plain old simple logic linking causes and effects across the board of topics, the reminder that Bush and McCain support the same failed policies. I loved the way Obama reminded the nit wit population that Iraq caused more problems than stopped problems. Obama gets high marks for reminding us that there is a continuity of bad policy from Bush to McCain and what those failures are.

I did not like hearing about nuclear power and biofuel as an option from Obama. I did not like the tough guy talk from Obama on Venezuela.

McCain gets low grades on factual information. He is great at presenting bluster and obfuscation as a way of ducking facts and increasing drama. McCain did his damnedest to sound like Reagan and I found that to be creepy but the Reagan crowd will gobble it up.

There will be McCain supporters claiming victory, and Obama supporters claiming victory.

The only real measure of success will be if more voters drift to one camp over the other.
