Salt

The new Fox Bush logo.

The President will present his last (sic), state of the union on Monday night. The generic article in our generic Sunday paper offers the headline, 'Bush's last chance to set a national agenda.'

The logo sums up the agenda, but does not adequately answer the question. The implication seems to be that he is fighting 'for' the American people. Only a scant few would agree. That same scant few are the actual viewers of Fox.

GWBV$H will be remembered the way Hoover is. The aftermath of his awful reign will be even worse. I feel sorry for the next Pres. because this son of a bitch is leaving him one awful mess.

Bush believes he is completely in sync with all that is compassionate and moral and all that is not.

He expresses no doubts about his role and his efficacy.

He's surrounded by people that support that belief and his role in doling out compassion and truth.

Anything else is a false prophet. What else can you say.

His mis-rule comes under the heading of "the banality of evil." Hitler and Stalin also both believed they were simply doing God's work here on earth. Every megalomaniac that creates murderous chaos and then has to justify it says the same thing. These people IMO lack any conscience.

I read about the authoritarian personality and I know Bush fits the profile. Americans seem to want an authoritarian. I don't know what you do with that. Doesn't matter what the person is saying as long as he is 'solidly' in charge, then hell its fine. Why are the roots of that particular archetype so deeply ingrained in people's heads. This is part of the problem.

It goes way back to pre-history. I'm afraid deep within all of us still is a fear and respect for the A ape in the troop. IMO this is why Democracy and Republics have such a hard time. It could be the authoritarian impulse is anchored deeply within our genes. We struggle against it to be more then scared animals cowering in the fire light in front of that brute who towers over us menacing but also commanding.

Its like using a larger fear to control a smaller fear. The problem is its still fear.
