Many like to know about the exploits of bad girl or boy Hollywood types. Its important stuff.

In an ongoing effort to make news more relevant and attractive to a 'consumer' audience, the aforementioned exploits become enlarged and enhanced to the size of presidential and world news. They are on equal footing.

What a dastardly joke. Britney's bald head shares the spotlight with the efforts of an over the top partisan Attorney General's efforts to undermine democracy. They are one and the same thing.

The news is there to make money. Its not there to inform the public in a way that would make them impeccably aware of how menacing their own government and private corporations are, or how the consumers' own vital interests are affected by both.

People appear to make sense out of all this. They regard politicians as if they were screen or music stars. The best looking candidate wins, you know the one that sounds like such and such in "Fight Club."

Talk about dumbing down, this is far beyond dumbing down. There is no further down, rock bottom got hit a while back.

The worst story of the year is ongoing generalized fogginess, ignorance, and apathy.

If you want the salacious and successful story you need one, two, or three of the following ingredients - money, sex, and violence, in that order and from high to slightly lower priority. One is fine but the trifecta is better.

All that is needed to take down a politician is link their stellar names to any one of the trifecta. Two will get them in jail unless their family is 50% of the government to begin with.

Violence and money are Bush's generalized downfall ingredients. The war in Iraq is now in second place to the state of the economy in the 2008 presidential election voter's minds.

Nobody is willing to make the effort to see the link between the war in Iraq and the economy. That would be asking a little too much, besides, Britney's little sister is pregnant.
