HCR

I'm reading that Democrats have enough votes for this reform bill to pass.

Certainly this will be historical legislation in the sense that it is encompassing.

Hey, this thing has got some huge issues. I'm hoping it fails.
The American Left may have (understandably) turned away in dismay once it became clear that President Obama and the overwhelming majority of the Democratic party would not risk time-sensitive political capital on advocating for health care reform that wasn't pre-approved by the pharmaceutical and insurance industries (though several Democrats, both in the House and Senate, have introduced bills for a single-payer system). As such, placing the blame for the stalling, ever-weakening health care legislation on the administration would be an oversimplification. source

The legislation would require most employers and consumers to obtain coverage by 2014 or face penalties. Families earning up to $88,000 a year would be eligible for help paying premiums. Consumers would be able to use new exchanges, or marketplaces, to easily shop for coverage.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates the plan would reduce the federal deficit by $138 billion over 10 years. It includes a series of tax increases, including higher Medicare payroll taxes on the wealthy and a new tax on dividend, interest and other unearned income.

Next the Dems. will be debating how to dissolve SS and force everyone to buy CDOs from Goldman Sachs in it's place.
