McCain Attack Flavor of the Week


We expect to see attacks leveled at Obama.

The right is twisting in its skin, seething with contempt, and flinging its essential righteousness. We expect that, this is the nature of American politics and this is the nature of the conservative right.

After all, isn't McCain the sort of candidate that gets you all worked up and you say to yourself, the man is destined to be our next greatest leader. Who wouldn't work to see that end come about.

I feel for McCain. He is the political equivalent of a musical comeback by Duran Duran in 2008 - excellent in its time, but at this point...

In a year when polls show an easy victory for a generic Democratic candidate, McCain has until now been loathe to employ the tack many strategists see as essential and which anonymous e-mailers and commenters with no apparent links to his campaign have been practicing since last summer: hitting Obama not on his record or his platform, but on his values and person.
