McClatchy: General who probed Abu Ghraib says Bush officials committed war crimes
"After years of disclosures by government investigations, media accounts and reports from human rights organizations, there is no longer any doubt as to whether the current administration has committed war crimes," Taguba wrote. "The only question that remains to be answered is whether those who ordered the use of torture will be held to account."If you do a check on Bush and war crimes you will find that this goes back a few years. People have equated Bush to a war criminal for a while now.
Its an interesting phenomena to witness because naturally Taguba will be attacked by the right wing pundits starting now.
There does seem to be a change in the atmosphere though. The patriotic fervor that followed Bush is gone. The vast majority see Bush and company as a failed President and you hear this term 'failed' applied to Bush with more and more frequency and ease.
That's probably an important part of the equation, there is no more energy propelling Bush from the point of view of the electorate. The King really is naked and now everyone sees the nakedness.
Bottom line: Nothing happens to Bush. He's not impeached, he's not tried for war crimes, eavesdropping, nothing. Bush is the son of the power elite. He and his dad appoint the ultimate judges of his fate. He is way too well connected, in ways that we can't even imagine.
