Well after the surge 'worked' and with Americans now focused on gas prices, food prices, housing prices, a stumbling stock market, the presidential election, and Britney Spears' sister, war get short changed. After all, its only a war and hey, out of sight, out of mind. As long as your kid or nephew or grandson or granddaughter are in college or anywhere but the military, no problem.

CNN: Officials: Iraqi councilman kills U.S. soldiers
A member of an Iraqi city council shot at U.S. forces Monday outside Baghdad, killing at least three soldiers, two Iraqi Interior Ministry officials said.Chalk it up to a free and democratically elected Iraqi government.
