NYT via FT.com: US says exercise by Israel directed at Iran

Israel carried out a major military exercise earlier this month that American officials say appeared to be a rehearsal for a potential bombing attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

First off, I do not believe Israel carries this off without US approval.

Second, it appears that this might be the Bush October surprise we are waiting for. We go to war with Iran, but Israel does the dirty work from the point of view of being the face of the war/aerial bombardment.

Its occurred to all of us that this is how it could go down. If it happens, its going to be ugly.

Bush still seems bent on carrying out the neo-conservative agenda at all costs and contrary to all public and world opinion. If Congress has any spine it will intervene.

Intervention is the right word. This is what you do when the important person in your life has fallen off the path and wants a type of misery for all.
