A Thursday email from Congressman Wexler announced:
"House Democrats Hold Bush Officials in Criminal Contempt"
I found the announcement to be old news. Most of us have not only held but also completely regard the entire Bush administration as contemptuous. Congress is merely playing catch up.
The letter went on:
In a vote on the House floor, we acted to enforce the law and our Constitution, and hold former White House Counsel Harriet Miers and White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten in Contempt of Congress.Great, now what. What if anything does this mean. I know right off that no particular justice has been served. Isn't this a demerit.
Bolten and Miers have ignored congressional subpoenas for nine months and thumbed their noses at Congress and the American people.
The letter continued:
Now, these two renegade officials must face up to their blatant disregard of the law and constitution.Sounds like a peacock feather was gently laid upon the protected foot of the alleged corrupt officials.
After retroactively giving Bush a green light and a free pass on warrant-free illegal wiretapping, this get tough act seems like a political stunt.
