McCain?

America’s middle classes are no longer coping
- Male wages today are in fact lower than they were then: the income of a young man in his 30s is now 12 per cent below that of a man his age three decades ago.

- Some parents are now even doing 24-hour shifts, one on child duty while the other works. These families are known as Dins: double income, no sex.

- ...we are veritable workaholics, putting in 350 more hours a year than the average European, more even than the notoriously industrious Japanese.

- Americans got nearly $250bn worth of home equity every quarter in second mortgages and refinancings. That is nearly 10 per cent of disposable income.

- Personal bankruptcies rose 48 per cent in first half of 2007, probably even more in the second half, which means a wave of defaults on consumer loans. Meanwhile, as foreigners begin shifting out of dollars, we will no longer have access to cheap foreign goods and services.

- Most Americans are still not prospering in the high-technology, global economy that emerged three decades ago. Almost all the benefits of economic growth since then have gone to a small number of people at the very top.
The final point 'a small number of people at the very top' is the prime reason to be for the Bush administration. No President in US history has turned more money over and so quickly into the hands of the ultra rich. Yet America is appearing poised to reelect a full war President in McCain.

America is in need of a full makeover. Change is the fun word that is now bandied about. Good idea, now what?

You have to believe the only reason a complete dud like John McPain could get elected is because at heart America hates women and minorities. I think what will happen though is Hillary will allow Bill to head the ticket in a de facto way. Like he's been doing against Obama. McPain will find himself running against Billary in the fullest meaning of that term and both running against "W" 's regime. If I were them I'd simply use Ronald Reagan's line against the Reptiles. If your doing better then u were 8 yrs. ago then vote for McPain and the Reptile Party if not vote for Billary cause u know u did better when we ran the show back in the 90's. If they can do this effectively and get "Indie" and Reptile women to cross over and vote for Hill and Bill then they still might win. Still it would have been easier with Edwards wouldn't it? Obama is a hard sell as well against McPain's experience quotient isn't he?

As for the polls right now I wouldn't believe them. The polls in this kind of situation, where none of the candidates is really exactly what the public is looking for, makes them all less then reliable from day to day then normal.
A lot will go down over the course of the next 10 mos. and all of this stuff will make the polls swing back and forth. "W" himself will also be a wild card in this election as will his best buddy and political ally OBL.

The thing about McCain right now is that he fits so perfectly into the media invented story line/image/ archetype.

A few months ago he was down and out. He fights back. Little by little he gains strength and conviction. Now he's on fire and smoking.

You know, people love this crap. Its the emotional, volatile aspect of the beast and often times it carries through.

Let him have his moment now. He'll wear thin by fall. He's from all accounts a total asshole with regular people and the folks around him find him almost insufferable. Not the guy u want to sit and drink a beer with.
