Bio-Fuels Update

Breitbart: Biofuel: Gene scientists find secret to oil yield from corn
Agricultural scientists in the United States have identified a key gene that determines oil yield in a corn, a finding that could have repercussions for the fast-expanding biofuels industry.

In addition, a tiny amino acid variant within this gene can boost the yield of oil and oleic acid -- the sought-after edible fat in corn -- by up to 41 percent and 107 percent respectively.
Like it or not, ready or not, big business is working on beautifying bio-fuels.

Bio-fuels are coming to you.

Although ethanol is not specifically mentioned in this article, ethanol is derived from corn.

The negatives are many.
The impacts include higher prices in the global food market as more fields are devoted to growing fuel rather than food, and the destruction of forests in Brazil and Indonesia as land is cleared for fuel crops.

Higher food prices as we opt to feed our cars over the poor and its just as polluting as OIL or worse. Now thats some solution isn't it? It does have 1 good side effect it helps free us somewhat from importing OIL from places that don't like us very much.(which @ this juncture is the rest of the planet.)But then they'll hate us even more for causing food prices to sky rocket.

I look at as the thing we can do is try to conserve energy. At this time that's about all we have.

Hopefully in the future there will be better choices.

Its not so simple. The farms use oil produced fertilizers to produce the bio-fuels. Its a scam.
