Joy

The picture is of Faith the dog.

Faith was born without both front legs. She was seemingly destined to die as a puppy.

Through a series of fortunate circumstances, Faith ended up with a family that cared for her completely.

They took care of her medical needs, and began to teach her how to walk on two legs using treats and praise.

Perseverance and their efforts paid off. Now Faith is well known and with her owner has been a guest on several talk shows and such.

As Faith's owner says, and I paraphrase, you don't need to be physically whole in order to be 'whole.'

Faith provides comfort for many soldiers headed off to Iraq and returning from Iraq.

As she is an extremely happy and bright dog, there is an unconscious and unspoken exchange of healing and heart melting with her visits.

At a time when there are so few stories that come forward into the mainstream news with a sense of joy, real joy, this is one of those stories.
