Cuban Twist

Here's a fork in the road that was unanticipated.

Turns out McCain wooed lots of Florida's Cuban population to vote for him by using tough on Castro rhetoric. He will get Castro.

That's not so unusual but the story gets deeper. McCain alleges that Cuba was responsible for the torture techniques that he personally witnessed as a POW in North Vietnam from 1967 to 1972.

McCain states that the Cubans were directly involved in the torture.

Castro is writing that McCain's statements are not true.

BBC: Castro and McCain in Vietnam spat
Cuban leader Fidel Castro says claims by US presidential hopeful John McCain that Cubans helped the North Vietnamese torture US POWs in the 1960s are lies.

Senator McCain retorted by saying to respond to one of world's "most brutal dictators" would be beneath him.
Its an interesting allegation from McCain at this particular time.

Six men are facing the death penalty in a military court of justice for plotting the 9-11 attacks.

It is also alleged that all 6 were tortured in order to reveal self incriminating evidence.

Evidence obtained through torture is considered unreliable along with the illegality of torture itself.

The alleged torturer in this case is the US government, that same entity to which McCain aspires to head.
