The Market On Friday

Good morning. It is bitter cold and bright sunny clear here in Upstate NY. Yesterday turned into one of the most glorious days we have had in a while. The Sun was beaming in a cloudless clear sky and the light was simply exhilarating. I hope you were able to get out and get some vit D yesterday. Maybe today will shape up to be a similar day, I hope so.

At 8:25 a.m. futures are slightly up, the dollar is mixed, and oil is slightly up.

Any second now the government will release employment figures for January. What can we say, if they are good the market gains maybe even a lot. If the figures come in weaker than expected, the market will proportionately drop.

Other than the crisis in Egypt, I would suspect the employment data will be the major factor today.

Get outside in the Sun.

CNN: Stocks set for flat open ahead of jobs report
...they remain confident in the overall economic recovery...

...overall the economic recovery in the U.S. still seems to be fairly stable and steady, so I expect to see more strength...

...investors are looking for any indication of a brightening employment picture...

Oil for March delivery gained 23 cents to $90.77 a barrel.
