Don't Drink the Water

There is a controversy over what is the best water to drink, tap water or bottled.

Certainly the following article which finds that parts of the water supply contain low levels of virtually all of the pharmaceuticals that people take.

Yeow!

AP: AP Probe Finds Drugs in Drinking Water
People take pills. Their bodies absorb some of the medication, but the rest of it passes through and is flushed down the toilet. The wastewater is treated before it is discharged into reservoirs, rivers or lakes. Then, some of the water is cleansed again at drinking water treatment plants and piped to consumers. But most treatments do not remove all drug residue.
Its the sort of news we want to pretend we didn't hear. That just can't be good.

But then more confusion arises with reports that claim that tap water is fine. This articles more or less refutes the first.

ABC News: Is Bottled Water Better Than Tap?
Many scientists have run tests...and have consistently found that tap water is as good for you as bottled waters that cost 500 times more.
So what's the best thing to do?

Its not clear, but taking the responsibility to look into it is probably in your hands.

There are lots of sites up that rank the various home water filters.

Comparisons and Recommendations

The EPA states that the American water system is one of the safest in the world. That could be true but that doesn't mean that it is good for you.

The level of safety is the issue.

EPA: Drinking Water and Health: What you need to know
...national statistics don't tell you specifically about the quality and safety of the water coming out of your tap. That's because drinking water quality varies from place to place, depending on the condition of the source water from which it is drawn and the treatment it receives.
