Obama's Attack On Social Security

People should be up in arms and crazy angry over Obama's crazed and misguided policy to de-fund SSI.

The more we learn about this guy the uglier it gets. He comes in as a progressive and then sets out to transfer as much money as possible into the hands of the ultra-rich. Yet he will still presents himself as some type of representative of the people. This tax cut bill is going to hurt millions of people. We are looking at millions of elderly people in dire poverty. The last safety nets of the richest country in the world are getting cut, it is Obama who is doing the cutting, and it is a disgrace.

San Francisco Chronicle: Social Security under attack
On Thursday, Congress passed the Obama-GOP compromise tax bill, replacing 15 percent of revenue dedicated to Social Security with borrowed money that will increase the federal deficit in 2011. On Dec. 3, a majority of the president's fiscal commission voted to support unprecedented cuts in Social Security benefits and changes in the structure of this program, which has served American families so well.

-- Large numbers of current and future retirees face potentially near-poverty retirements, contrary to the myth of the well-off elderly.

-- Social Security can meet all obligations through 2036 and, even in the absence of congressional action, could meet more than three-fourths of its ongoing obligations, thereafter;

-- A changing and volatile economy makes Social Security protections more important than ever.

You had an article on your blog about how the wealthy have very little empathy. There's quite a bit of that out there. There should be an empathy test for people who want to go into politics.
