The Decade Of The Robot

According to California thinktank The Institute for the Future, we are entering the decade of the robot.

But there will never be another you...

Guardian UK: Dawn of the age of the robot
The US military is backing the development of a four legged mechanical pack-carrying robot, called the BigDogs. Guided by its own sensors BigDog can navigate treacherous terrain carrying 150kg on its back.


The University of South Carolina has developed a system called Contour Crafting that allows machines to construct buildings in layers guided by computers. The system can reduce construction times and costs by 75%, according to USC.


Google is working on cars that drive themselves.

The technical elite ever striving to get rid of us! My experience working with engineers for yrs. is that they are as a group socially retarded and happier around their machines that don't look at them cross eyed.

Yes, engineers are usually objective thinkers with a twist of intuitive for creativity. They are not people types. Robotics will be huge.
