Animals can be very smart. My 8 yr. old Cat loves to play catch and retrieve with a small rubber ball and when I even mention the word ball she runs around looking under everything for it. We wrongly don't give animals much credit for their intelligence. There are parrots that can talk but they also can reason and answer questions, not just mimic their owners. We are NOT the only intelligences on this planet.
I want a Border Collie for the next dog, although another Lab would be nice too. The cat we have adopted seems very alert and is adjusting very fast. She already has her spots to look outside and she knows how to get our attention when she needs it.
