No Market On Friday

Good morning. Its cold and starting to slightly clear here in Upstate NY. Lots of unfriendly dog walkers were out this morning. No one was willing to say good morning and that's in a neighborhood where everyone lives comfortably in a decent looking house. Must be the holiday cheer kicking in. Lesson learned...

As you know the stock market is closed today for Christmas Eve. Car traffic in my community is light as I presume many have taken the day off.

As long as investors are taking the day off from the stock market, I will too except for one thing.

The price of oil has passed $90 per barrel. This can only mean that the threshold of $100 is in sight and on the lips and pockets of commodity speculators. It also means that gas is going to get more expensive. You can take that to the bank.

CNN: Stocks take early vacation, end flat
"Everyone is on vacation or just taking a break from the stock market..."

Oil for February delivery jumped $1.03, or 1%, to settle at a fresh two-year high of $91.51 a barrel...
