These kinds of shows remind me of the Robin Lynch show in the 80's "Lifestyles of the Rich and famous." People are just trying to not get foreclosed but just to make it seem even more surreal here we have a show were people are busy looking for homes in Hawaii etc. Watching them is like pressing your nose against the store window looking at some thing you can never afford.
I watch Pawn Stars instead. A show actually very much in tune with these times.
I don't have a TV so I catch these things over at Hulu. I will try to look at Pawn Stars, see I never heard of it.
These people are clearly well off because they are looking for a home that costs roughly $1 million. These shows cause a certain level of anxiety. They maintain the belief in the system of materialism and conspicuous consumption.
