Neocons Invade Obama Land

Jimmy Carter had a neocon full press when he stepped into office - Plan B.

Clinton got the "crazies" first PNAC draft as soon as he arrived.

Bush got it as well, from his VP Cheney and proceeded to govern from the neocon directive. We know the nightmarish results.

Obama is getting it as well. Hopefully he knows better. Hopefully he is aware of the full court press the neocons have presented to every new president.

Consortiumnews.com: The Petraeus Plot Against Obama
President Barack Obama already appears to be the target of a well-organized strategy directed by senior military officials -- and aided by their allies in the Washington press corps -- to force Obama to renege on his campaign pledge to bring U.S. combat troops home from Iraq in 16 months.

16 mos. @ 12 billion a month. For what? Hundreds more dead GIs for what? We had 90% of our troops out of Europe in 1946 less then a yr. after the war ended. This is BS. Half of these guys will be sent to the other losing war in Afghanistan to defend the drug cartels that control 95% of the world's heroin trade and Pres. Karzai the mayor of Kabul. It sucks. let the taliban have the place and drop a nuke on them if they attack us again. if they want to live in the stone ages I say let em.

One of the main interests of the neo-cons was to ramp up military spending. They got it big time in Iraq. Lots of people got very very rich off of Iraq, mercenaries, weapons makers, private intelligence, service providers, contractors of all sorts, this thing was a huge money river for a few. Who would not want to keep that aspect of it going especially if you were on the receiving end of all that money.

The neocons are not going away. They will persist with the American Century and use all of their political will which is very well endowed financially to keep their interests in full view when necessary and completely secretive and manipulative when needed.

I agree. The HUGE war time military budget we can no longer afford financially or politically is the 800 pound gorilla in the room. Problem is that it's probably all that holds up our economy anymore. The Soviet Union did the same thing. By the mid-80's it was a gutted shell that couldn't produce toothpaste well. We're heading down the same path.
