The Market On Monday

All signs would indicate that the market opens lower at 9AM and that the DOW will drop.

The manufacturing hub of the world, China, is affected by the world economic downturn and the numbers are beings parsed.

The long drawn out pattern of bad economic news continues relatively unabated.

Reuters: Stock index futures point lower
Stock futures pointed to a drop on Monday after grim manufacturing figures from China, and as investors braced for economic data expected this week, including key jobs figures.

Consumers made repeat trips to U.S. stores and spent more on bargains this holiday weekend, but the early rush is unlikely to save retailers from a bleak sales season, analysts said on Sunday. Early results from the Black Friday weekend that kicks off U.S. holiday shopping showed that sales grew both in stores and online, fueled by repeat trips, heavier online sales and deep discounts from retailers across the price spectrum.

We had a story in the local paper about a local company that makes gaming devices ( slot machines) it's a family owned business 3 sons and Dad run it. Anyway, they basically bragged about how they're expanding etc etc. but while expanding they laid off 30 people. This is what is wrong with America today. This is why we will not get out of this hole we've dug any time soon.

Yes, this is like calling the doctor and the only information asked is your insurance numbers and how the money is going to be paid. Gone are the days of concern for health as the primary concern. The family could care less about the people that built the business up for them, now its time to cut them loose.
