Bush Rejected Banking Changes

Bush's dirty laundry list is unparalleled.

Here we find Bush in a position to crack down on the predatory and crazed mortgage lending policies of banks back in 2005 and in the face of dire warnings.

Bush the ultimate corporate playing president, naturally ignored the warnings and allowed the practices to continue. Look where we are now.

It absolutely stuns me that Bush remains with 20 something percent of the people supporting him and that McCain was able to win as much of the popular vote as noted.

The Republican interest in dumbing down the presidency has its merits both in terms of allowing for this type of disaster in the economy and in terms of what the American people are capable of understanding.

Yahoo: US diluted loan rules before crash
The Bush administration backed off proposed crackdowns on no-money-down, interest-only mortgages years before the economy collapsed, buckling to pressure from some of the same banks that have now failed. It ignored remarkably prescient warnings that foretold the financial meltdown, according to an Associated Press review of regulatory documents.
