Not War

Politicians are like diapers. They both need changing regularly and for the same reason. ~Author Unknown

When we start to uncover the shrouded mess that is the American political reality, its easy to lose our sense of humor.

Liberals and progressives need to party more, get wild, go nuts, and live with distinction, occasionally even laugh.

I ran into some like minded friends in town and immediately the conversation goes to the degree of danger American democracy (sic) is in and the degree to which the world that we know is in a fragile and dangerous place. The atmosphere was thick with frustration.

Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it whether it exists or not, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedy. ~Ernest Benn

You can live as a frustrated angry individual, that is all too easy. Its far more interesting to be politically astute and to cultivate humor and friendliness even happiness.

This whole period with Bush as the American voice is a very dark episode. Its easy to get sucked into that great meaningless and destructive abyss. I'm still waiting to hear Bush say something that doesn't reek of spin and lies. I can't recall ever hearing him say anything that is inspiring or motivating.

Still we all need to work around this Bush obstacle. We can't get stuck in gear because 25% of the population is going 180 degrees the wrong way.

I agree but whats scary is that Germany was so easily pulled down by the same 25%. The rest simply either had NO will to resist or no guts to. The result was a World War that ending up dragging down a hundred million people. Think its not possible , your wrong. I hear sentiments like this every day from people who should know better. "I 'm not so much against taking their OIL but couldn't it have been done with a bit more finesse?" The sad truth is under the thin veneer of civilization that covers most people's souls lies a brute willing to take what he/she wants ruthlessly and without any regard who it might hurt. America is a long way down that dark path now. Look at how far we've fallen since WW1 & WW2. Look at all the WAr and suffering we have been through in those yrs. Now look at who has ended up on top. Was it all worth it? Have we evolved as a species or a nation? Sobering thought my friend, even scary.
