US forces 'lure Iraqis with bait'

US Army snipers in Iraq are ordered to "bait" areas with explosives and ammunition and then kill whoever picks them up, according to court documents.

"If someone found the item, picked it up and attempted to leave with the item, we would engage the individual as I saw this as a sign they would use the item against US Forces."

One wonders what the accepted appearance of the "bait" taker is. For example only those between 13 years old and 65 years old, or perhaps only males, no amputees only the able-bodied.

Hopefully the standard will remain at the immaculate threshold of picking up the "bait" as opposed to simply noticing the "bait" or walking within a mile range of the "bait", or tripping over the "bait."

One could never accuse the Bush administration of morally under-reaching.
