Rape Victims And TSA Pat Downs

Kudos to the CS Monitor for pointing out an overlooked problem with TSA pat downs.

That would specifically be the women and men who have been victims of rape and are re-traumatized by the pat down.

The numbers are sickening with 1 in 6 women being the victim of rape. We talk about how America is the land of the free, but within the borders there is a war raging among the population. We have some serious issues with sexuality and violence.

CS Monitor: For sexual crime victims, TSA pat-downs can be 're-traumatizing'
...victims of rape or sexual assault who are now confronted with a procedure that they feel explicitly strips them of control over their bodies.

Nationwide, an estimated 1 in 6 women and 1 in 33 men have been the victim of an attempted or completed rape, according to a consensus of figures compiled by the Department of Justice, FBI, and Centers for Disease control. About a quarter of a million people each year report a sexual assault.
