The Market On Friday

Good morning and welcome to the first weekend that Fall has to offer. It is time for the full remaining harvest. The leaves are getting rich in color. Fall is the best time of the year.

At 8:00 a.m. futures are modestly up and who can explain it? The dollar is in mixed territory and the price of oil per barrel is slightly up as well.

It certainly has the feel that the recent run up in equities is over. Hope always springs eternal and yet I have no trust whatsoever in this morning's futures number.

I was speaking with an investment guy yesterday and he was talking about the upcoming third quarter reports. Its pretty obvious really but that would be the next key period. I suspect that companies are going to show some profits but there is still this lingering cloud of slow growth.

CNN: Stocks poised for early gains
"...Maybe the weakness over the last couple of days was a bit overdone."


Investors will look to a report on new home sales, due out at 10 a.m. ET.


The price of oil for November delivery edged up...
