Super Something
I realize there is a great American ritual playing out today, I think.
Football just never struck me as an elegant sport. Its a very warring type of sport with tackling and kicking. The players are of course amazing athletes and deserve recognition for their unparalleled physical prowess. You have to be quick to play football, you have to think fast, and you have to watch your entire periphery like a hawk. You also have to expect to experience pain.
I tried football as a kid. It just never stuck. I even went out for football in high school. This was a pitiful experience and taught me to walk wide circles around loud aggressive people. The times I have failed to do this have led to harsh consequences.
So while there are parties and drinking and excitement, I will happily go for a long walk or read or take a nap. It doesn't really matter. If it wasn't for my listening to Obama, I wouldn't even know who was playing.
Basketball, now that's a sport.
