The Market On Thursday

Today we begin to see how the stimulus plays out.

The initial response has been somewhat less than tepid.

Nevertheless, we have what we have. The recession is severe. Unemployment is very deep in parts of the country. People are generally anxious and cautious.

Investors now have a sense of the environment since the problem issues are more apparent.

At some point there will be a slight sense of optimism that is based on solid facts.

Economic indicators on tap for Thursday include weekly jobless claims data and a government report on retail sales.
