Is it any wonder that things are so incredibly f*cked up? The Yahoos made huge leaps back to the middle ages while Pres. No Child left behind was in the saddle.

As we know, there's a large population that can't reconcile evolution to the old testament.

The part that is compelling to me is why that reconciliation can't occur. We know the main reasons like the bible is not just symbolic but it is also an actual history of humanity, the literal history of how people got on the planet etc etc.

I'm interested in understanding that inability. What plaque is on the willing to be open aspect. Why can some people do that easily and others can't be open to the challenge. Instead they use their intelligence to go the other way and build scenarios about why the world is really only 2 thousand years old.

Its an interesting study in personalities and personal psychology. Someone should do more of a scientific study. I mean I do a disservice by calling it a confederacy of dunces. Its actually something that is not really understood.

One more thing - Bush definitely gave these guys lots of credibility. I suspect he pandered to his intelligent design base more because he needed their votes. His own beliefs were probably a little more agreeing with evolution.

Intelligent design is an oxymoron when attributed to these guys.
