The Market On Monday

Good morning. It is 35 degrees and it is cloudy with some sunshine here in the Upper Hudson Valley. A calm day in the 40s is expected. I hope you had a good weekend, got to relax a bit, maybe did one special activity. Hey, it's now officially Spring, so hooray for that. Part of me is thinking that we could be in for a scorcher of a Summer. More than anything though, we do so much enjoy the return of the full light and even though the days will be getting longer through June, the rate at which the light increases per day is soon diminishing. It's true.

At 9:00 a.m. ET futures are modestly lower and the price of oil per barrel is down, now trading at around $41. the market is poised to open lower.

The term optimistic keeps popping up in the CNN article, so we shall see. There will be a big Apple announcement today. No doubt there will be a party surrounding the release of a new product which will be relegated to the dustbin of high tech antiquity within a year or so. Planned obsolescence works like a charm in the high tech world.

Sherwin-Williams (SHW) announced on Sunday it was buying Valspar (VAL) for $113 per share in cash.
