Blink 182

"All the Small Things"

Good pop, self deprecating values, who can resist....
(BTW Blink is no more. Internal disagreement split the group. They have become +44 and Angels & Airwaves.)

They're a lot like Greenday post-grunge band. Hey, would u believe I once owned an alternative rock night club. Its true for 19 yrs!

You are to be commended for giving your community an outlet for creative work. 19 years of it is a real commitment. There's not enough of it as you know. I've played in clubs like that mostly in NY. Still play and especially write music. Its all good.

Never had any support locally. I drew most of my support from all over the area outside of my town The town never gave me anything but heartache. In the end it was a thankless task. Nevertheless, I miss the music and the artists and most of all my customers. I mistakenly got into the computer business since. Worse bunch of a-holes on earth. Geeks are largely social retards with a bad attitude. I'd like to get started in another art based enterprise but its not that easy anymore. Since I sold 10 yrs. ago it seems small business has all but vanished.

Most artists have horrible business skills. There's a real need for people that can match talent to the public no matter what form or style.

It probably can still be done. It needs the right formula.

Getting support for the arts is like pulling teeth. There's always those few individuals that put up a good fight and have the energy to persevere. Sounds like you are one of those people. I know artists need people like you.

By the way I'm also an artist (painter and crafts person.) I also play piano and harmonica ( blues harp). My wife works for IATSE the stagehands union for 30 yrs. and is a multi-talented show biz person , Lightening tech., dresser, costume design etc. My daughter is an actress and hopefully will be going to Juillard or some other acting school next yr. My son is in his 2nd yr. of an Arts school for Video design and Communications. So were basically an arts based outfit.

I rue the day I sold my place friend. Life has been nasty ever since for me career wise. Imagine, after 25 yrs. in entertainment, I went to work as a systems eng. (PC) for Lockheed Martin among other Corp. nightmares. I got a real good look at the beast close up and I didn't like what I saw. Most of these huge companies suck off of the taxpayer big time all the while screaming their BS free market line. Lockheed Martin was the worst politically. if they discovered you were a registered demo. they found a way to fire you. That's what almost happened to me. I quit before the axe fell. Now, I write my blog every day and I'm working on a book about blogging. I should be writing a book about my nightclub yrs. but I just can't bear to go there for some reason? Its like trying to write about someone you loved after they died.

From here it all sounds like a very rich and interesting variety of experiences, not only for you but also for your talented family. You could also write a book about Lockhead Martin, a tell all about a defense contractor. You might have to assume a new identity!

I hear you about writing a book. I think it would be a real growing and learning process, very positive.

My plan is to try to score music for a film or video project. I had a tiny taste of that this year which was a first, and I really liked it.
