SCOTUS

TPM: Outside Groups Warn GOP: Don’t Even Think About Holding A SCOTUS Hearing
Outside conservative groups with influence on Capitol Hill -- and particularly those that inhabit its far-right flank -- were quick to cement the line McConnell drew.

“Senator McConnell is right, under no circumstance should the Republican Senate majority confirm a Supreme Court nominee as Americans are in the midst of picking the next president,” Michael Needham -- the head of Heritage Action, the lobby arm of the conservative Heritage Foundation -- said in a statement posted Monday.

The Family Research Council is also advocating that Senate refuse to take up any nominee Obama submits.

Ben Carson like the broken Coo coo clock he is got it right the other day when he was asked if circumstances were that a GOP President had been in the WH when Scalia dies would they be singing the tune about it being a Presidential yr. He said , with absolutely no irony in his voice of course not. In that case the Senate would be saying just the opposite thing. So, anyone saying this is anything more then what it is an attempt to run out the clock on a sitting Pres. with a year to go is just plain nonsense.

Yes, that it clear as a bell and I completely agree. This is the fight over abortion, gay rights, voting rights, unions, birth control, lots of things and the very large GOP based groups that want it their way are terrified at this moment. The best they can do is try to somehow or other convince the sheeple and mostly each other that in an election year the president is a lame duck and powerless to act on a replacement. Actually the definition of the lame duck period is between election day in November 2016 and January 20th 2017 when a new president is sworn in. Let's be real here, if 99% of the American people wanted Obama to get a replacement, that would not mean a thing to the GOP.
