Global Warming - The Aliso Canyon Leak

The aging and decrepit US infrastructure has global warming implications.

Climate Central: Study: California Methane Leak Largest in U.S. History
Though the global climate impacts of the leak were minimal, it showed that aging and degraded natural gas wells and pipelines in the U.S. could be at risk of emitting millions of tons of methane into the atmosphere, with significant implications, the study’s authors say.

Personally I had not considered this particular problem. I heard on NPR this morning that American engineers are quite concerned about the American infrastructure, roads, bridges, etc. I suspect that many of these pipelines, gas lines are privately held and so it would be up to regulating entities like the EPA to go after offenders. We're talking about privately held infrastructure. That's not going to happen now in this political environment. It can't be overstated, the enormity and complexity of issues surrounding global warming are possibly insurmountable. We go after one thing and three more new issues pop up.
