Amazing Long Distance Runner

The unexpected thing that pops up in this situation is: does the prosthesis give an advantage to the runner? Is it fair to normal runners in a competition?

She runs the super endurance races so that requires extremely good heart and lungs simply to keep moving. That's super conditioning. Also she talks about how she has no control over her ankles and all of the pivoting that provides. If you watch her stride you will see that she working very hard to over come the balance problems that missing a limb brings. I think just the opposite, I think she is overcoming several handicaps.

I agree with everything you say. It's an odd thing. Oscar Pistorius is looking to compete in the 2012 olympics, but his prosthetic legs are longer, have more endurance, give him a longer stride with less energy, etc. Some track and field governing bodies say no springs allowed. I think they may have a point.
