Hang In There

I am not ready to bail on Obama.

I cannot accept criticism of him based on the state of employment. Having very carefully followed the progression of corporate America through Wall Street this past year, its clear as a bell that employment was not going to improve in '09. None of that is Obama's fault, not a drop of it, sorry. The market doesn't hit its lowest levels in eons in March of '09, and then all of a sudden miraculously there's a major turnaround and everything is rosy. That's a ridiculous idea. Republicans that use this as a criticism are banking on America's collective stupidity and inability to marry one with one.

Don't get me started.

This is a make or break year for Obama. Look are things better or worse than they were one year ago.

SacBee: Experts caution against rush to judge presidency
Experts on politics and the presidency have seen it before. They caution an American public plagued with a short memory and shorter attention span not to judge the Obama administration based solely on its opening year.

Your right he's not responsible for what was done before his watch but that's not the question. What has he done since? Are his policies conducive for growth? I would posit so far they are not. His stimulus was absorbed by the ravenous mall of State budgets and their legions of political appointees and over paid over benefited and over pensioned employees everywhere. NJ is a prime example. In many States the cost of State Gov't and all the other multiple layers under State Gov't is crippling the Small business sector, not the Big Corp. sector that can buy influence to have its taxes reduced to nothing etc. The small business sector provided 50% of the jobs in this country collectively known as Main st. its in a deep Depression because of Corp. corruption especially on Wall st. and BIG GOV'TS crushing tax & regulation load on it. The Big Corps. own DC and many State houses and they escape much of this crushing effect by buying the pols.

Here's one reason why I think Obama can do better and its not about policy decisions or anything. The one I get from his speech last night is that at the minimum, the guy is not inflexible. He is not tone deaf. He hears and reads. He actually listens to what people say. This reason alone makes me think that he can adjust and do better.

I just got an earful from my own kid saying the same thing. Hear's my answer. I follow the Nixon rule. I don't give a flying fart what they say. I watch though very carefuklly what they do. So far this guy doesn't pass the smell test. I hand u this much he gives great speech but, talking the talk and then not walking the walk so far is his MO.
