East
Its Easter, so Happy Easter.
Tied to the equinox we have a story of death, rebirth, and redemption. Winter is almost gone, while rebirth and hope springs eternal.
In America, this year Easter is timed with the end of tax season or death, and an Easter - Passover stock rally or life.
Continuing that thought, redemption would be the end of the recession and the DOW rising to 9K. That was not deliberate.
With Easter I can't help but think about the late ultra-conservative William Buckley. Buckley was a literal Catholic, and by that I mean a literal interpretation of the bible and its chapters.
Buckley believed that Jesus literally in human body rose up into the air from the grave and ascended into heaven. I have always wondered if there are hidden writings and teachings on the speed and trajectory.
When I learned about this, I found myself far more interested and open to Buckley as a messenger of politics and life. Its simply because there was a fundamental stiffness and stuffiness to the conservative movement of his time, yet at the core of his being, this man appreciated and believed in magic and magical spiritual experience. I like that.

We came to call it "Voodoo economics." The Conservative movement had a lot of such childish beliefs. Then one day we wake up from "their" insistence on fantasy and delusions and find we've all been playing a game of three card monty, instead of really creating anything. I hate to say this about Buckley and the rest of them but the reality is that they represented the Dark magic of the Ring. They see GREED and SELFISHNESS as magical virtues that summon the best inside us. They are wrong. We've survived these millions of yrs. mostly by huddling "together" and sharing our lives and resources. Parents work hard and sacrifice for their children. They walk the walk of salvation and they put their own bodies in many cases on the cross of endless toil so maybe just maybe one or more of their children can have a better life. It's this selflessness and love that we really are celebrating on Easter. From this soil RISES New Life and hope. The Conservatives have it backward , they worship the Golden Bull that Moses smashed that fateful day during the time of the Hebrews Passover and Exodus that we also celebrate at this time of yr. They follow the Golden Rule of the BULL not of the Ten Commandants and of Jesus. They don't Love thy neighbor, they beggar him and in so doing they put the whole world in rags as they do they're little tea bag dance. I have a very Conservative friend that loves Buckley for other reasons. I met the man and watched him debate and he reminded me of a snake with that tongue of his darting in and out of his mouth and as he hissed out his $2 words. Arrogant, scary rich from the womb and totally without any understanding of what the common person must shoulder just to make it through each day. I despised him then and I do now. But, I forgive him Sande because the truth is he was really a wretched beggar in spirit and all his wealth and education and fancy words have largely just blown away with the rest of such dust. he should have paid more attention to what Christ was actually doing in those short yrs. of his life and less on the drama. Conservatives are all about the drama, the sound of drums and horns and armies ironically marching under the banner of a man that died because he had the temerity to preach about LOVE and PEACE and BROTHERHOOD in a time when ROMANS ruled. ROMANS still rule.
