We hope the economic right can somehow re-assume a more pronounced leadership position in the Republican Party. We would like to see our Dad's Republican Party re-emerge.
Our reasons are pretty simple. Look, Palin presumably is going to be around for awhile. So how about Palin's incoherence on matters of major importance to the American people - you know basic things, like knowing about, or knowing anything about, foreign policy for example.
She is painfully lacking in fundamental knowledge yet the Evangelical right would have no problem propping her up into the position of President. Excuse me while I puke.
Palin's ascendancy is mind boggling even to the economic Republicans who wisely have come forward in support of Obama. Surely there is someone out there who can claim leadership in this Evangelical power vacuum who has more on their resume besides the fact that they are opposed to abortion, opposed to gay marriage, and can shoot a gun.
Just for the record nobody is making anyone on the Evangelical right take part in abortion. And if you are an Evangelical gay, then you don't have to get married to your partner. Nobody is taking away your gun, guns are selling like hot cakes in our country.
Reuters: Win or lose, Palin seen to be a political force
Sarah Palin has emerged as the new darling of social conservatives, and this political capital could make her an influential vice president -- or propel her as a candidate for the prime spot in 2012...
She has won conservative hearts and minds on many fronts: she is a devout evangelical; she chose to have a child even when she knew through prenatal tests he would have Down syndrome; she is a populist; and she knows how to use a gun.
"The gap of sensibility between the social right and the economic right is severe. ... An earthquake has taken place and the party can't straddle the fissures..."
