Shopping Psychosis

I hope security cameras identify the "people" that did this. What's more important saving $50 or stopping for a moment in order to not trample someone to death. This is way beyond disgraceful, this is savagery.

We call it civilization but that is really being optimistic, nothing civil here.

A worker died after being trampled and a woman miscarried when hundreds of shoppers smashed through the doors of a Long Island Wal-Mart Friday morning, witnesses said.

Crazy isn't it?

We're making many of our gifts anymore. We find that people we give hand made items are delighted that someone took the time to make them something individual & not store bought. I started this tradition after hearing Pres. Jimmy Carter on NPR discuss how the same tradition works in his family. Every yr. we make something different and it's even a surprise too us many times what we end up coming up with. The other really positive effects are it allows everyone involved too be creative and part of a team effort. I've suggested this method too many others ( friends & family) and those who have used it agree that it's a far superior way to gift X-mas or B-days then always buying manufactured gifts. We still give our kids store bought as well for their BIG Xmas gift, but they always look forward to see what we've made for them as well.

Interesting, what kinds of things do you make?

I usually give gift certificates cause I'm terrible at choosing something people like, plus the only people left in my family are women.

Personally, I make sea glass art objects and jewelry, my wife knits scarfs, hats etc. and makes custom clothing. We have a lot of fun with it. Like I said, everyone always loves getting handmade stuff as long as it's excellent quality. I have the time now too do this , when I was working 60 hrs. a week I didn't.

Sounds like the makings of a home based business to me.
