The Market On Friday

Good morning. It is 47 degrees and cloudy here in the Upper Hudson Valley. The coolness of the Fall slowly works its way into the weather system. We had yet another mass shooting and we have all become quite used to the media pattern of these horrible and tragic events. We learn about the shooter but essentially all the shooters have one things in common, they are all highly disturbed and violent people. There is no safeguard in society that prevents people who are highly disturbed and violent from getting a gun. At this point I don't believe any such legislation will ever happen, the country and especially the GOP is much too embedded with the NRA and the NRA mindset. We all need to learn how to protect ourselves in these types of situations because as we know they are occurring regularly and all over the country.

At 8:10 a.m. ET futures are moderately higher and the price of oil per barrel is up. The market is poised to open higher.

The monthly Federal report on jobs created in the preceding month will come out at 8:30. This is an important one as always but especially because the Fed is tottering on the edge of raising the base interest rate. A good report will more than likely assure a rate hike.

CNN: 3 things to know before the open
The U.S. government will post September jobs data at 8:30 a.m. ET, including the unemployment rate, payroll figures and earnings.
