That power resides with Congress.
Strange political bedfellows have arisen from the most recent war campaign. That would be the anti war left and the Tea Party right, the yin and yang of Congress.
We are in Libya for two reasons. The first is American interests AKA corporate interests AKA oil. The second reason could be summed up with, because that's what we do.
Somewhere in there is a cover story shot involving a rebel Libyan waving an American flag.
I still want to see Gadaffi gone.
Final note, has America ever started a war, changed its collective mind after a few days, packed up and said oops.
CS Monitor: Libya intervention: Tea party and liberal Democrats make unusual allies
“Imposing a no-fly zone over a country is an act of war,” said Rep. Ron Paul (R) of Texas...
On the left, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D) of Ohio said: “War from the air is still war..."
“Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution clearly states that the United States Congress has the power to declare war. The president does not. That was the founders’ intent.”

Getting he U.S. involved with your revolution is sort of like calling the Albany Cops for a domestic squabble. All of a sudden your house is full of belligerent people on some kind of power drug with guns and clubs doing whatever they please.
It gives you pause.
I agree Ed! Mummar is a lunatic but is he "our" problem? He is now because we've essentially declared WAR on him. America is ever vigliant to get involved in a WAR if OIL is involved. I can name 15 other wars, Civil and others happening on this Planet we haven't lifted a finger to stop. We should have stayed out of this.
Gates says we are out in a few days, otherwise its time to get out in front of the capital and make a stink.
